Getting More out of Your Massage with a Epsom Bath Afterwards!

November 10, 2008

As a massage therapist, I often recommend taking a Hot Epsom salt Bath after a massage because of several factors. One I have moved alot of metabolic waste as I manipulated the muscle tissues. Drinking water will help flush these toxins out, but you still may feel achey and sore for 24-48 hours after your massage.

Epsom salts taken as a bath promotes perspiration and draws acidic wastes - mainly uric acid - through the pores of the skin. This all helps to relieve pain. This bath also sedates the nervous system, reduces swelling, relaxes muscles, is a natural emollient, exfoliator, and much more.

How to prepare: Soak in warm water and 2 cups of Epsom Salt. Be sure to have a tall glass of water to drink while you soak for up to 15-20 minutes.

Foot Soak: Soothe aches, remove odors, and soften rough skin with a foot soak. Add 1/2 cup of Epsom Salt to a large pan of warm water. Soak feet for as long as it feels right. Rinse and dry.

Soak Sprains and Bruises: Epsom Salt will reduce the swelling of sprains and bruises. Add 2 cups Epsom Salt to a warm bath, and soak.

Healing Crisis A Natural Part of Body Cleansing

November 9, 2008

Introduction to A Healing Crisis
An increasing number of people today are trying alternative healing methods to cleanse and detoxify their bodies. Simple methods such as switching to a natural food diet, juicing to increase nutrition, or fasting are used to cleanse the body of stored toxins in the hopes of naturally addressing long-standing symptoms such as chronic headaches, adult acne, allergies or arthritis. More intensive methods may be used to perform cleansing of the body’s elimination organs: colon, kidney and liver. However, many people trying these and other alternative health cleansing methods discontinue them when they experience new symptoms of ill health. Generally, these new symptoms are in actuality not a new disease or malady affecting the body, but rather a healing crisis.

Healing Crisis Defined
A healing crisis is when symptoms from diseases and toxins that are released during a detoxification process manifest themselves. Also known as “Herxheimer Reaction”, a healing crisis occurs when toxins stored in the body are released at a faster rate than can be properly eliminated. The more toxic one’s body is, the more severe the detoxification and the more intense the reaction.

A healing crisis is characterized by a temporary increase in symptoms during a cleansing or detoxification process. Such symptoms may be mild or severe, depending on the body’s original toxicity, but are definitely temporary. They can occur immediately, within several days, or even several weeks of a cleansing program.

Reverse Order
What is not immediately intuitive is that symptoms are experienced in the reverse order of when the body was originally exposed to their cause. This simple explanation may help demonstrate the reason.

Assume that every year you painted your walls a different color. As time went on, you layered color upon color. Finally after 30 years, you found that the newest paint was not sticking properly because layers of paint underneath were cracking and coming off. So you decided to strip all of the paint off the walls and give it a fresh coat of paint. As you started stripping off paint, you saw earlier layers. In the process of cleaning and stripping the walls, you got glimpses of what your walls were like and what they went through in prior years.

Believe it or not, human bodies work in a similar fashion. As bodies store fat, the chemistry of the fat reflects the internal body conditions at the time the fat was stored. Each year, a residue of the viruses, bacteria and toxins you were exposed to were stored in fatty deposits.

Similar to the paint stripping analogy, as a body is cleansed, stored toxins, bacteria, and viruses are released. As they are released, symptoms experienced with the particular malady or event associated with the toxin are re-experienced ? albeit in a milder form.

Possible Symptoms
A healing crisis can have a variety of possible symptoms, depending on what the body underwent during the initial toxic encounter. Symptoms can include:

  • muscle cramps or pain
  • arthritic flair ups
  • diarrhea
  • extreme fatigue
  • restlessness
  • headaches
  • insomnia
  • sinus congestion
  • fever
  • skin eruptions
  • strong emotions or mood swings

Recommended Treatment
During a healing crisis, it is important that the cleansing program be continued. Continued cleansing will help the body rid itself of released toxins and diseases forever. Following these simple steps may help to relieve some of the symptoms of the healing crisis.

  • Drinking plenty of fresh water helps the body eliminate released toxins.
  • Increasing fiber intake and taking supplements to cleanse the colon and kidneys will also help to accelerate the elimination of toxins.
  • If fatigued, give the body rest
  • Meditation can help to manage symptoms such as strong emotions and mood swings

Lavender Pure Essential Oil

November 8, 2008

Lavender pure essential oil is cultivated and harvested in the Mediterranean today. More specifically, lavender is grown in Provence, France. Lavender, actually comes from the latin word lavare, which means to wash. Since the beginning of time, lavender has been used for all natural skin treatments.

The finest of the lavender species is English Lavender, Lavandula Angustifolia, which was formerly known as Lavandula Officinalis. What is origin specific about this species is it only grows above 3000 ft.

Lavender pure essential oil can help treat skin conditions, such as acne, and rashes. Just mix up 10 drops of the oil in a quart of water, and spray, or dab with a cotton ball on the surface of the skin.

This oil can also help you relax and enjoy a good nights sleep. Take a few drops of the oil, and rub them directly on your temples, and/or on the pressure points on the back of your neck. Then lay down, and enjoy the aroma.

Lavender is also one of the main pure essential oils used in massages today. The aroma of the oil is a relaxing aroma, and helps the persons being massaged to relax even more. Also, with the skin benefits of this oil, it is an excellent oil, when blended with a carrier oil, to be used for massages.

Vitamins And Minerals

November 7, 2008

It is obvious that each of our bodies is unique ? there are not two human beings that are exactly the same. That is why I encourage every one to eat the best that they can and get plenty of vegetables as the first source of vitamins and minerals.

That way your diet gives you the variety you need, so that your body can pick and choose the vitamins and minerals it needs to build a strong, healthy body.

As many people already know, fruits and vegetables, especially leafy green vegetables, are the best source for the vitamins and minerals that we need to live a healthy life.

They provide good amounts of vitamins A, C, D and E (and several others) that rank highest on the importance scale. As well, providing major such as Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium, Phosphorus and Potassium.

I see a good number of people who do not get good nutrition everyday and for them I suggest a quality whole food supplement.

Can I Be Hypnotised?

November 5, 2008

If you are conscious, have an IQ higher than about 80 (average is 100), have the ability to concentrate, and also have the ability to dream ? then you can be hypnotised.

You see, hypnosis is a perfectly normal state of consciousness that you will enter into maybe several times a day. Hypnosis is just an altered state of awareness. If you’ve ever been lost in a book; engrossed by a film or TV program; realised you have no recollection of the road you’ve been driving along for 20 minutes; or daydreamed; then you have been in an altered state.

The only difference between those examples and formal hypnosis is that with formal hypnosis you are directed into that altered state by the hypnotherapist, rather than by your environment.

Usually though, when people ask ‘Can I be hypnotised?’ what they are really asking is ‘Will this treatment work?’

And whether or not the treatment will work depends not just on whether or not an individual can be hypnotised, but on how suggestible they are. Suggestibility, as the word suggests, is responsiveness to suggestion. Most people are responsive to suggestion. If they weren’t then there would be no adverts on TV, radio, or in the press. Let’s face it; there isn’t a single thing that is advertised on TV, radio, press, billboard, or anywhere else, that we couldn’t live without; not one thing that is essential to our well-being and good health.

Complementary Medicine

November 4, 2008

Complementary Medicine is the use of natural therapy and medicines to restore and maintain health in addition to conventional medicine. Dating back to 420 B.C., around the time of Hippocrates, complementary medicine is also considered a practice beyond the realm of conventional modern medicine - naturopathy, chiropractic, Ayurvedic, homeopathy, acupuncture and so many other complementary medicine treatments are steadily in demand and on the rise.

Because our bodies are composed of chemical and physical reactions, holistic practitioners affirm that illness is not directly caused by pathogens such as viruses or bacterium; instead is the consequence of the body’s reaction (in an effort to shield and heal itself) to a pathogen. Naturopathic and holistic doctors assist potential clients through complementary medicine by plainly alleviating symptoms of disease. Complementary medicine can treat most conditions like headaches, sore throats, flu and cold, indigestion, ear infections, dermatitis, urinary tract infections, sprains and strains. Some chronic conditions such as migraines, autoimmune disorders, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, cancer, muscle-skeletal pain, depression, stress, and even pregnancy and childbirth may be treated with complementary medicine as well.

Why Detox?

November 3, 2008

For most of my life I considered myself fairly healthy. I was not overweight, very slim infact. I usually ate two to three meals per day, not a lot of junky type foods, so I thought. I was about to learn the hard way that my life style and eating habits were not healthy at all.

My diet was like most of North Americas diet, a lot of processed food, soda, drinks, not real juice but man made sugary drinks, fast food and lots of fat! I also smoked 2 packs a day of menthol cigarettes. I also became less active as time went on.

I considered my lifestyle and eating habits perfectly normal. This is how I observed most people living their life. What I did not realize was all the dyes, preservatives and hydrogenated oils I was consuming, not to mention exhaust fumes, solvents, chemicals pesticides and heavy metals in our environment.

We spray our homes with chemicals to kill off nasty little critters. We walk outside on the grass that has just been sprayed with more chemicals. We put chlorine in our pools and we can’t go outside at any time without being exposed to the exhaust fumes from cars, planes etc.

Natural Pain Management

November 2, 2008

Life in today’s hectic society is going more and more in the direction of fast food restaurants, sugar in foods you would never think should be there, trans fatty acids, preservatives and pesticides which we consume in large amounts every year. We even go so far as to invent foods, such as artificial sugars, which your body (in my opinion) does not recognize as actual food. We are bombarded with hormones in most of our meats and dairy products. Girls are maturing physically at a much younger age because of this. With all this going on, it’s no wonder that our immune systems are on overload and physical ailments are growing in leaps and bounds. Pain in some cases, is what some people’s lives revolve around.

Lets look at pain. It is your signal that injury, disease or too much strain has occurred on the body. Without it you wouldn’t know that something needs to be addressed. Even mild pain can limit your activities, which in turn can lead to a loss of strength, endurance and flexibility.

Anal Warts Treatment (Finally, a Medicine for Anal Warts Which Removes Them Completely!)

November 1, 2008

Anal warts treatment

Anal warts, otherwise known as genital warts or venereal warts, are just one of about 80- different strains of the Human Papilloma virus (HPV). Anal warts are extremely common these days. HPV or the wart virus has the highest infection rate of any STD in the United States. More people become infected with HPV every year than HIV.

It is estimated that there are about 5 million new cases of HPV infection every year in America. A huge percentage of infections result in genital / anal warts. Many people who become infected, either don’t realise that there is an easy treatment for anal warts, or they are unaware of their presence.

Warts are extremely contagious due to the fact that there are many carriers of the virus. HPV (human Papilloma Virus) can lay dormant in the body for months, sometimes years, before manifesting as warts. The virus can easily be passed from one person to another during sexual intercourse. When Anal warts symptoms become apparent, it is extremely important to find a treatment / remedy immediately.

Hypnosis and the Treatment of the Agoraphobic Eleven

October 30, 2008

Agoraphobia: fear of the market place.

?not, as many people imagine, a fear of open spaces.

There are no phobias that are fun to have, but agoraphobia is one of the worst, simply because it’s almost impossible to avoid the object of fear on a day to day basis. This is because the object of fear is Life itself. Fear of Life manifested as a fear of social encounters; a fear of being trapped; a fear of feeling foolish; a fear of looking foolish; fear of humiliation?

Another deadly aspect of agoraphobia is the speed with which it develops to the point of the sufferer being afraid to leave the house alone. Often its onset is started by a panic attack ? in itself frightening enough, without this possible consequence. The closing in of a personal world within a matter of weeks is a terrifying experience, and one that friends and relatives find almost impossible to understand and to cope with.

I have observed eleven factors that are frequently present with agoraphobia:

1. Low self-esteem
2. Lack of interest in job
3. Lack of a creative outlet
4. Insecurity
5. Lack of individuation
6. Insecurity in Relationship
7. Strong dependence
8. Fear of the cure
9. Nothing to live for
10. Lack of play/fun
11. Lack of regular exercise
