Train for the Look You Want
May 29, 2007
So the Olympics are almost upon us. While you have the chance, compare the differences between a marathon (long distance) runner’s body and a sprinter’s body. What do you notice? The long-distance runner is skinny, frail, kind of bony, thin and almost sickly looking. On the other hand, the sprinter has well developed muscles, and looks strong, fit, healthy.
Of the two, which one would you rather look like?
Well, this is what should determine how you develop your own training program. If you want to look like the sprinter - and about 98 percent of people desire a sprinter’s body type - why do you spend all that time doing cardio on a treadmill while you watch CNN? In order to look and feel like a sprinter, you must train like one.
Remember, start out slowly. You’re probably not a sprinter now, and if you went out and followed their regimen, tomorrow you’d be insanely sore and probably give up exercising altogether.
Let’s consider, for a moment, these creatures (sprinters). They only move rapidly for about 10 to 60 seconds at most, during a single sprint. Well, that isn’t very much time, if you compare it to long-distance runners, who run for three to four hours, without stopping.

Being lost in midst of all of these variables is not a hard thing at all. There is sooo much knowledge and guidelines out there that sometimes we don’t know how to put it all together. Well today you are in luck!
Before we get into this let me make one thing clear! You are doing the right thing! It is virtually impossible to know everything there is to know about diet and exercise. If everyone waited until they knew everything in order to get started no one would get started. What we first need to do is to construct a plan. Our plan will be simplified but will be enough to get you on the right track.

May 28, 2007
A fictional overheard conversation at a Thelma’s Fine Dining.
Hi, I’m your waitress, Flo. How are you two doing tonight? Just come from the gym? Whew, one of you needs a shower. Here’s our menu. Our specials include a 3lb cheeseburger with mega fries, a foot long chili dog that is deep-fried and covered with cheese. Or we have a this new health drink called Chocolate Splendor. What? How in the h#%l did that get in there?
An after workout drink that provides bodybuilding nutrition for first rate growth.
After putting your body through a grueling workout it demands bodybuilding nutrition. No this is not an advertisement. We found an easy, quick and reasonably priced way of fulfilling this need. We take a packet of Carnation Instant Breakfast and mix it with whey protein.
The whey protein that we use is Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein Powder. It mixes easily and tastes good. 20 grams of sugar carbohydrates from the instant breakfast help your blood glucose return back too normal after the depletion from the workout. You can mix the two powders together in a shaker cup and add water at the gym when you are ready to drink it.
15 Quick Tips for People Who Dont Like to Exercise
May 28, 2007
We’ve all had days when we don’t have the energy to tie our athletic shoes, let alone bounce around in them. But exercise can give a daily blast to your mind, body, and soul.
Here are fifteen quick tips to get you moving:
1. Don’t get intimidated by the prospect of a daily exercise regimen. You don’t have to run a marathon. You need only get your body moving each day. Once you tone your muscles, you’ll naturally find yourself wanting to do more challenging workouts.
2. Reframe the way you think about exercise. Begin to think of each workout as a gift you give to yourself instead of just another “should,” “ought,” or “must.”
3. Make sure you enjoy your exercise program. Some people like classes. Some people don’t. Choose what’s right for you so it becomes something you actually look forward to.
4. Make sure your workout is convenient. Schedule it for a time of day when you typically feel the most energetic. Have your gym bag packed and ready to go by the door or in the car.
5. Make your workout weather-proof. If you run or walk outside, get the right workout gear so weather conditions are never an excuse.

Nourish Your Body
You must nourish your body. Certainly one can starve themselves and lose weight, but this is not the weight that you want to lose. When you don’t eat, human biochemistry will keep the blood glucose levels high because glucose is the only molecule the brain can metabolize. It does this however, after just two or three days of starvation, by converting muscle protein to glucose via the biochemical pathway called “gluconeogenesis.” This is not how you want to lose weight.
Toxins Make You Fat and Shorten Your Life
May 28, 2007
When your body is toxic, toxins hide and embed themselves in your body fat. This causes your cells and organs to become sluggish and lose efficiency. The fatter you are, the more toxins you can store. As your organs and body systems lose their ability to function properly, they lose their ability to metabolize and process fat effectively. This is one reason why some of you find it difficult to lose weight - your body is not functioning properly. When you start to lose weight, this causes fat to be used up in your cells as energy and causes toxins to be released into your blood stream. If you lose weight to fast, you will have excess toxins released into your blood and this creates a variety of unhealthy symptoms and conditions - headaches, mucus, flu like symptoms, joint pains. Excessive toxins in your blood can remain there for over a year and cause you harm and that is why you need to lose weight slowly ? like 2 lbs a week. What are toxins and where do toxins really come from? They come from
* The food you eat
* The meat you eat
* The vegetables you eat
Whats Really Behind the Milk Diet?
May 27, 2007
The purpose of this article is not to scrutinize, vilify, or verify the so-called Milk Diet. There are a number of resources available both online and offline which can help you and your physician decide which of the several diet plans or personalized weight loss programs is right for you.
No matter what plan you choose, that plan should lead you to healthy weight loss and to the attainment of your weight loss goals. And if the resources that help you in your decision are sponsored by weight loss professionals, they won’t just point you to one of fad diets.
Professionals know that fad diets just don’t work. You may see initial results, but the risk to your health is high, and the chances of keeping the weight off are low.
I went to one of the major search engines and in the search box I typed the words, milk diet and skim milk diet. Try it, and you’ll laugh at how some sharp entrepreneurs are trying capitalize on one of the latest crazes.
Liquid Vitamins and Nutrition ? or Pills ?
May 27, 2007
Liquid vitamins
Hardly does a day pass without the liquid vitamins viruses pills debate goes on.The important overall issue is getting good nutrition through food supplements.Balance dictates that you should include minerals and many other resources as well.
Fortunately we can find good products wholesale at the simple click of the mouse and have those liquid vitamins delivered to your front door.
In fact, you probably want to combine a couple of chosen products of vitamins and minerals thus combining them for a multiple approach. It appears that this approach may very well yield cost savings, improve the overall quality and thoroughness of your supplementation as well.
Not to forget that taking liquid products may very well be a more encouraging and pleasant experience for you.
You’d probably agree with us that millions of folks here in the good ole’ USA understand the need for dietary supplemental help - and we’re spending billions of dollars on supplements.
Unfortunately, as stated in the 1996 Physician’s Desk Reference (page 1542), the body only absorbs 10 to 20 percent of the nutrients found in traditional pills and capsules.
Chocolate Is Good For You!
May 27, 2007
Great news on the chocolate front! Chocolate is good for you. Under certain circumstances.
Katherine Tallmadge, spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association, says, in the February 9, 2005, WASHINGTON POST, that "cacao, or cocoa beans, contain ‘flavanols,’ naturally occurring plant compounds also found in tea, red wine, and apples. Their properties have been studied as heart disease inhibitors."
Carl L. Keen, chair of the department of nutrition at University of California, Davis, states in the same article that "the flavanols in cocoa help maintain a healthy vascular system. They reduce blood clotting — an aspirin like effect — reduce oxidative damage and improve blood flow."
Unfortunately the flavanols in chocolate are bitter and are mostly removed from processed chocolate. The level decreases with each step, from the bean to the cocoa powder, and ultimately to a finished product. But big manufacturers like Nestle and Mars Inc.(producers of M&Ms) are working on chocolate items that are — what else? — good for you. We can soon expect chocolate bars and candies that advertise their high level of flavanols. In the meantime, the only product that states its flavanol level is Mars’ Dove Dark Chocolate, which has 150 mg. in 1.3 oz., a high level. It also has 200 calories. We live in an imperfect world.
The Secret Weapon To Beat SARS Is In Your Head
May 27, 2007
Just when you thought you had all the fun you could possibly handle with Saddam Hussein, North Korea, Al Quaeda and the winter that just won’t die, along comes SARS ? severe-acute respiratory syndrome.
I recently fielded a call on this subject from one of my biggest fans: “You moron. What do you mean we can fight SARS with our heads? Can’t you see? We are all going to die. Die. Die, I tell you.”
“Please, mother. Don’t panic. Panicking will only make it worse.”
“What do you mean make it worse? How can it be any worse? People are dying all over the place. It’s all over the news. Every day. This is just horrible.”
“So far, out of six billion people on earth, only about a hundred have died. Most of those are on the other side of the planet. That’s not good for them, but the risk for us is way smaller than it seems.”
“Then why does it seem like it’s everywhere? Why won’t the TV people stop talking about it?”
“Well, the TV people have all sworn a secret oath. They are to maintain high professional standards, report the news as objectively as possible and do whatever is necessary to scare people to death. See? It’s simple.”
